November 2023: Art and Entrepreneurship Day

So, you want to be an entrepreneur?

Concordia College’s Center for Entrepreneurship hosted an interactive day of entrepreneurial speakers and workshops for students interested in entrepreneurship. Students learned from local entrepreneurs, engaged in a hands-on art workshop, and left the day with an idea for a side hustle. Each participant received lunch, an exclusive pair of Wright Foot Socks, and a Scribble Lady sticker. Students had an opportunity to win door prizes.

"The Intersection of Art and Entrepreneurship"

Hannah Stelter, Founder, Scribble Lady

Hannah Stelter is a local artist who turned her art into a successful six-figure business in just two years. She has also just started her second business venture — Scribble Lady, an art supply and gift shop located in the heart of downtown. With seven employees, a storefront, and a thriving online personality, Stelter is making waves in the art and entrepreneurship realm.

In this talk, Stelter explores the intersection of art and entrepreneurship. She will argue that artists are natural entrepreneurs because they are creative, independent, and risk-takers. She will also discuss the challenges and rewards of being an artist-entrepreneur and offer advice to aspiring entrepreneurs who want to start their own businesses.

This talk is for anyone is interested in art/creative fields, entrepreneurship, or both. It is also a great opportunity for entrepreneurs who are thinking about starting their own businesses to learn from a successful artist-entrepreneur.

"Find Your Place"

Joe Wright, Founder, Wright Foot Socks

Joe Wright is your friendly neighborhood sock salesman. He started his six-figure business in 2019 and now gets to sell punny socks for a living. Wright strives to supply socks that can make you smile and start your day off on the ... Wright Foot ... get it?

In this talk, Wright will speak about how one needs to find their niche. In 2023, there are a lot of people and a lot of businesses that might be doing what you want to do. With that much congestion and saturation, how can you find your place that will help you stand out in the crowd? Wright will describe how he found his niche and how you can possibly find yours, too.
